I have a question for you
It's been crazier than usual around here, and I really need to post, but for now, I would just like to pose a question that I have been asking myself often.
Sister Hazel's Swan Dive has these lyrics:
So what do you think? Is "scared" the same as "being afraid?" If not, what's the distinction? Discuss.
Sister Hazel's Swan Dive has these lyrics:
And oh yeah well I might be crazy -
But that’s not the same as insane
And I’m scared -
But that’s not the same as being afraid
So what do you think? Is "scared" the same as "being afraid?" If not, what's the distinction? Discuss.

Or, Sister Hazel could be both crazy and insane, because scared and afraid seem pretty similar to me.
I personally think she was working more for the similarity in phrasing than actual truth... but that is not nearly as fun to talk about.
Wiktionary (which is perhaps the WORST source imaginable) actually defines scared as afraid, so if we believe IT... then Sister Hazel is just plane batty.
But if we want to get REALLY contemplative, it might become obvious that I really wanted to just say Howdy, and I am thorwing out a lot of words to make myself look like I am writing something worthwhile.
Smiles to you and Mattchew....

Photo - that's what I generally arrive at, that "scared" is "afraid, with action."
The point is that I can't listen to this (or most any) song without analyzing.
